Thanks so much for contributing to the overall success of our conference - I had promised them something different for the evening and you certainly provided that. and more. Your act was a perfect mixture of mind-boggling impossibilities, comedy and suspense. I will be proud to be able to say I saw that young man on his way to stardom.

We've all seen that TV show the X Factor haven;t we. Most of all we remember some of the most horrific performances. But have you ever wondered why it is that these people think they are fantatsic artistes when in fact they sound like roadkill?
The reason we hear over and over again in the video clips is that the parents and so-called friends of these poor people, tell them that they're good.
The problem is that if you tell someone something enough times they will begin to think that it's true. They become self dillusional because as far as they can see, everyone eround them is saying it so surely the majority is right...right? Nope.
Yes if you tell someone something enough times they will believe it to be true but it does not actually change them. If you're a singer and your friends tell you that you're the next Billy Joel then you'll believe them. However that belief you have will not transform you in to a singing legend.
So if you want to change how somone feels about themselves then tell them that they are whatever it is you'retrying to make them feel. However don't expect them to act any differently. After all, why should they change if they're already like that?
More tomorrow :)
