We all know that lucky numbers don’t really exist….do they? It is all a load of stuff and nonsense that allows unscrupulous entertainers with blonde (very blonde – what do you mean out of a bottle) hair to make a living. Well, perhaps we need to think again a little bit. We’ve all got a hex number that makes the heart flutter just that bit faster whether it’s for good or not so good reason but what about the mathematicians – surely they’d tell us it’s all rubbish.
Lucky Number Theory
Now, trying not to yawn, or send you to sleep, I’ll get this over and done with ASAP but 1, 3, 7, 9, 13, 15, 21……wake up, stay with me……are part of series of numbers identified in 1955 by a bunch of maths academics who needed a name for this series of numbers. No idea why, but they just called them Lucky Numbers – for real, and they were being paid for the work! Either way we still come back to the same idea there’s no such thing as a lucky number.
Yes, But Tell That To…..
….a certain bunch of well known people for whom 27 is very special. What about 27? I bet very few of you would say you’d have 27 as a lucky number – go on put your hands up and I’ll count them. See, only three of you, that’s lucky.
But 27 does have something odd about it. Look at this….
Louis Chauvin – 1908, Nat Jaffe – 1945, Brian Jones – 1969…..make any sense yet?
Jimi Hendrix – 1970, Janis Joplin – 1970 and Amy Winehouse – 2011. All musicians cut down in their prime and all of them dying when they were – you guessed it – 27 years old.
Now, the list of famous musicians who died at the age of 27 is longer than you’d think, actually 45 of them with Louis Chauvin, a famous St Louis ragtime musician dying in 1908 at the head of the list. Think about it that’s almost 1 every two years since then.
Rumour has it that legendary blues guitarist Robert Johnson made a deal with the devil. In return for a well tuned guitar he gave his life at 27….now didn’t Oscar Wilde write something similar?
So is there something odd here or is it linked to bunch of spirited youngsters burning the candle at both ends? I think so, after all, what could be special about 27…..
27 – the number of grains on Buddhist rosary, there are 27 channels for communicating with God in Kabala, there are 27 countries in the EU, the moon takes 27 days to orbit the earth and my favourite, in feng shui the word is to put 27 coins in your home to get rich quick!
Now where’s that book on Nostradamus….
